What is residential care?
Domov Sue Ryder offers temporary and long-term residence. Long-term residence is intended for clients in need of permanent nursing care and clients whose medical condition is stable. Temporary residence is available for stays lasting from two weeks to three months and is typically used by clients recovering from medical procedures or by families who need temporary relief from the intensive task of providing care for an elderly member of the family.
Domov Sue Ryder provides a complete range of assistance – not only physical and biological needs, but also social, psychological and spiritual. We support and facilitate expanding those abilities that clients still retain while providing assistance in those areas where clients can no longer manage themselves.
Our clients may choose from a variety of creative and social activities. They can attend concerts, theatre and reading organized in the Domov’s cultural center. In the Day Centre they may for instance decorate porcelain (with varying degrees of assistance) or work in the ceramics studio. During spring and summer they can participate in wheelchair-accessible gardening. Clients also receive physiotherapeutical treatment which is completely personalized.
